GEN-E Case Study: Marks & Spencer

During 2024, we had the great privilege of working with M&S on their energy lighting programme to deliver significant energy reduction across their store estate. Prolight Design were responsible for supplying our high-efficiency GEN-E Spotlights, which have delivered a 50% energy reduction compared to the first-generation LED luminaires they replaced.

M&S selected the new groundbreaking GEN-E Collection to deliver market-leading energy reduction. The advanced GEN-E LED Technology achieves >160 in 3000K and >170 in 4000K delivered lumens per watt with high CRI. Our GEN-E product sets a new benchmark in energy efficiency, circular design, reduced material content, and embodied carbon, without any compromise on light quality.

With over 90% of the carbon footprint of luminaires generated during the “use phase,” we recognise how imperative it is to deliver the most efficient luminaires in the market to maximize sustainability. When the time ultimately comes for end-of-life, it is equally important to maximize recyclability, and this is where GEN-E products also excel, with all GEN-E products delivering a minimum of 85% material recyclability at end-of-life.

Throughout 2024, the M&S energy lighting schemes have required over 50,000 luminaires across the estate. In addition to new luminaires, M&S also took advantage of our new PRO-CYCLE service, where we coordinated the collection and responsible recycling of the end-of-life luminaires.
