Thérapie Clinic
We are glad to be a part of the #ThérapieTakeover, Thérapie Clinic is one of the biggest providers of non-surgical treatments in the UK & Ireland and are planning on an expansion to over 100 total sites, read more here. We have supplied lighting for many of their stores across the UK and most excitingly, their flagship store on Wigmore Street, London.
We thoroughly enjoy working on entirely bespoke designs, not only are they a step out of the norm, but seeing the final result and how they transform a space is one of our favourite parts of the retail lighting process.
For Thérapie, our favourite is, of course, the custom-made circular pendant light feature used in their London stores, attracting you to the storefront instantly. We added in halo lights to outline the shelving units to add in a subtle highlight without overpowering. Kozel extrusions from Klus were used to create lighting that sat within the plasterboard for a seamless finish, to emphasise the clean feel of the store. In the corridors, we sourced Annular pendants from Woud, a crisp white that complements the décor perfectly.
We are excited to work on bespoke lighting projects with Thérapie Clinic in the future!
River Island | Milton Keynes
River Island has been a staple within British fashion for a while now and this new opening shows a big effort to move forward where other retail groups may have failed.
River Island Milton Keynes opened its doors to show off the latest 20,000sq ft Flagship Store.
We’ve worked closely with the brand since the beginning of time, so we know just how they get things done. That being said, we started the design process for this store way back in April 2017.
River Island’s design intent involved developing multiple options for the lighting design. It was important when discussing the design that we offered an array of options, covering new techniques and styles. Over a period of 11 months, our dedicated design team created 66 lighting layouts before the final sign off for the store. As the design process went on for this River Island Milton Keynes store. It became apparent that ceiling troughs with recessed Gimbles and track mounted fittings most of the sales floor would best reflect River Islands design intentions. For the recessed LED Gimbals mounted into ceiling troughs, we developed a bespoke plaster in trim, creating cleaner lines and a seamless fit between the ceiling and light fittings. During the 11 months, we spent many hours of research with River Island to ensure colour consistency between the varying light sources. This includes spots, LED tape, Gimbles, feature lights. We didn’t only explore varying colour temperatures, but the effect of materials and textures. This was to ensure the feeling across the store was consistent and balanced.
Finally, we visited the store to commission and adjust the lighting and set-up the luminaires. This is important as it ensures all merchandise is appropriately lit and contrast is achieved throughout the space. The anthracite grey pendants from Original BTC added a brilliant design aesthetic to the store. The pendant can be found in their men’s and women’s footwear sections and the quality stands out, completely transforming the area. We were also asked to source the pendants in kids wear from Eno Studio. An excellent choice as the playful but clean collection of pendants adds a cool character to the department.
Lululemon | Regent Street
Having worked with Lululemon since 2016, having the opportunity to design lighting for their brand new Flagship store on London’s Regent Street.
Regent Street is definitely not an obvious location for the calmness that is Lululemon. That being said, it’s exactly what it needed.
Canadian leisure brand Lululemon is the perfect example of a retail experience done right. The beauty of shopping returned but it is not the most important aspect.
We worked with friends Dalziel and Pow for this project. Their ideas provided the clean feel of a yoga studio, combined with what can only be described as retail heaven. An attitude where, sure you can shop if you really want to, but you don’t have to. (But you kinda do)
We used track lighting throughout the store and due to the array of colours throughout it worked so well. Each section provided its own bit of character. The mood was extremely important. Even though this was a retail store it also held Yoga sessions where flexible fans can practise their downward-facing dog or warrior stance.
Our favourite element of the store was of course the bespoke luminaires. We used metalworkers local to our HQ in Devizes to supply the metal for the two bespoke luminaires in the store, which was then manufactured in our very own workshop.
Not only that but the upstairs bar and social area allows them to sip on a “responsibly sourced” protein shake and even create “evanescent sculptures of colour” in front of an interactive art installation.
Lululemon says their two-storey European flagship will be “a space to stretch, sweat, connect”. As you can see this was more than just a retail store and we were proud to be a part of it.
Kids Cavern | Liverpool
Likened to a ‘mini department store’ that provides a unique customer experience, Kids Cavern is the UK’s largest independent retailer for kids clothing.
Arguably one of our favourite stores that we’ve worked on, due to the intricate and show-stopping 15 piece hexagon LED linear luminaire. Powder coated in gold to fit the required spec and also fitting in with the gold accent pieces in the interior. The entirely bespoke linear luminaire creates an utterly eye-catching element in the store and brings together the central area and adds a focus.
In addition to the spectacular store lighting, we provided the full lighting package, including the back of the house and emergency lighting. We visited the site to commission the lighting, ensuring that the light direction was spot on and ready for the store opening.
Smiggle | Oxford Street
Smiggle creates colourful, fun, fashion-forward stationery. Their goal is to inspire and develop the creative spirits of its customers. Consider it a sweet shop for stationery, if you can imagine it, you can probably find it.
By delivering original, fun and affordable stationery. Smiggle needed their lights to simply do the same and show off everything the store has to offer. That being said, it still needed to follow that creative outlook that they expect from their stores. The lighting we have designed for each store has been fairly similar, as Smiggle wanted each store to look consistent meaning that the customer would know exactly what to expect from the store.
After working on 200+ stores with the Australian brand. Prolight has a strong relationship with Smiggle and has supplied the lighting for every UK store for the past few years.
We took on the challenge of designing lighting for Smiggle’s first ever two-story store in the world. Prolight designed, supplied and commissioned LED lighting scheme. We have visited every Smiggle store the day before opening to commission the lighting on-site, ensuring every single light is positioned perfectly.
