Renowned outdoor brand, Arc’teryx, has recently opened its largest store in Europe at 41-42 King Street, Covent Garden. Spanning two floors and covering an impressive 2,404 square feet, this new flagship store marks the brand’s central London relocation from its previous location at 49 Long Acre. Arc’teryx continues to expand its presence in key urban hubs across Europe.
What sets the Covent Garden store apart is its innovative approach to sustainability, with the introduction of a repairs centre—the first of its kind in Europe. Situated under Arc’teryx’s Rebird circularity programme, which launched in November 2021, the repairs centre offers a range of services including upcycling, care, and repair. This initiative forms part of Arc’teryx’s broader commitment to sustainability, demonstrating the brand’s dedication to reducing its environmental footprint and promoting responsible consumption.
The store’s design concept seamlessly blends nature-inspired elements with modern architectural features, creating a truly unique shopping experience. This ethos extends to the lighting setup, where meticulous attention to detail enhances both the visual appeal and functionality of the space.
Our involvement in the Arc’teryx Covent Garden project included designing and supplying a lighting configuration that not only illuminated the retail space effectively but also complemented the overall ambiance and design vision.
We crafted bespoke Tron configurations, installing a 6-square grid Tron+ system alongside track-mounted Bing spotlights. This carefully curated lighting scheme ensures that the store’s products and architectural elements are showcased in the best possible light, without overwhelming the minimalist aesthetic.
A standout feature of the lighting design is the in-house manufactured stretch ceiling pendant, which serves as a focal point, adding a touch of modernity and architectural interest to the retail space. Designed to complement the store’s minimalist style, the pendant provides a soft, inviting glow that enhances the customer experience.
Our team was on-site for commissioning, meticulously positioning the lighting to meet the design specifications and working closely with the Arc’teryx and Esprit UK teams to ensure seamless integration with the store’s overall aesthetic.
Arc’teryx Covent Garden represents not only a flagship retail destination but also a hub for sustainability and innovation in the heart of London. With its focus on responsible consumption and customer experience, the store sets a new standard for outdoor retail in urban environments.
